Kind

Kindness is an often overlooked quality, particularly in this day and age of expecting instant results and people constantly being under pressure of one sort or another.  It is not a word often associated with football (indeed, you may be surprised to see this as part of a coaching course!) but it is something that we at Onside feel is an important quality for our Coaches to possess, particularly when working with younger players.

As a Christian organisation we are commanded to be kind and it is listed as a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 and in Philippians 2:3-4 it says: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

As a football Coach you yourself may be under all kinds of pressure, whether that be in a football context or in work or perhaps in your personal life.  You may not feel like being kind or helping out but a little act of kindness towards someone can go a really long way.
